Before making updates to an audiobook, remember that changes to the audio files on a live audiobook are subject to the same quality control and processing as new projects. Please ensure the audio files meet the requirements listed in the ACX audio submission requirements.

How can I make changes to my chapter names after I import them from the Kindle edition?

 If the imported chapter names include extraneous characters or otherwise do not reflect the chapter names in your book, use the text editor to make the corrections. If there are sections in the Kindle version that you do not wish to include in your audio edition, you can delete them.

How can I make changes to my chapter names before my producer submits my audiobook?

 You can navigate to the In Production tab to edit chapter names any time before your producer submits the audiobook for production.

How can I make changes to my chapter names after my audiobook has been published?

To update the chapter names after your audiobook has been published, please follow these steps: 

For DIY titles:

1. Sign in to your ACX account.
2. Select the Completed Projects tab.
3. Select the title from your list of projects.
4. Select Make changes to audiobook.
5. Select Make changes.
6. Navigate to your list of chapters under Produce Audiobook.
7. Edit the name of the chapters you wish to change.
8. Once you are done editing, select Submit for review.

For marketplace titles:

1. Sign in to your ACX account.
2. Select the Completed Projects tab.
3. Select the title from your list of projects.
4. Select Make Changes to audiobook. .
5. Select Make changes.
6. Navigate to your list of chapters under Produce Audiobook.
7. Send a message to the producer in the message center by selecting Message Producer. Inform them of the chapter name updates that they need to record. Be sure to specify which audio files need to be updated. Once you send the message, the files will be unlocked and the project will be put back in your producer's control to make changes.
8. Once you've been notified that changes have been made by your producer, log back into your ACX account and review the new audio files.
9. If satisfied, select Submit Changes for Review to resubmit your title for review to our quality assurance team.

How can chapters be added to my already-published audiobook?

 To add a chapter to an already published audiobook, follow these steps: 

For DIY titles:

1. Sign in to your ACX account.
2. Select the Completed tab.
3. Select the title from your list of projects.
4. Select Make changes to audiobook.
5. Select Make changes.
6. Go to your list of chapters and scroll to the bottom.
7. Select Add chapter.
8. Edit the name of the chapters.
9. To change the order of the chapters, select the move up or move down option on the action menu to the right of each chapter.
10. Once you are done editing, click Submit for review.

For marketplace titles:

1. Sign in to your ACX account.
2. Select the Completed tab.
3. Select the title from your list of projects.
4. Select Make changes to audiobook.
5. Select Make changes.
6. Navigate to your list of chapters under Produce Audiobook.
7. Send a message to the producer in the message center by selecting Message Producer. Inform them of the chapter name edits needed or of any change to the order of the chapters. Once you send the message, the files will be unlocked and the project will be put back in your producer's control to make changes.

How do I name a chapter that must be split into two files?

 If the files for your chapter exceed 120 minutes, we require that you split chapter into two parts. In such cases, your chapter names for a split chapter should read “Chapter NAME” and “Chapter NAME Continued.”

What are the text requirements for chapter names?

 The following are requirements when considering chapter names: 

• Chapter name entry titles cannot exceed 250 characters each.
• Bold and italic text may not be used.
• HTML coding (such as &) cannot be included.
• Special characters (such as é) may be used in the chapter names, but they count as two characters and cannot be used in the file names. Using non-standard US symbols/characters (including, but not limited to ! # $ % & ' @ ^ ` ~ + , . ; = ) (ß ä ö ü Ä Ö Ü Æ æ Å å Ø ø") in your file names can cause errors in the file uploading process, which may cause your file uploads to fail or your files to be rejected.
• Chapter name entry titles should be capitalized according to the same Chicago Manual of Style rules for book titles. Please see this capitalization tool for additional assistance: https://capitalizemytitle.com/ (Select Chicago and Title Case).
• Avoid all capital letters for chapter names (e.g., THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF).
• The following words should not be capitalized unless they are the first or last word in the entry title: the, and, of, in, on, at, by, for, from, onto, with.
• Verbs must always be capitalized regardless of number of letters.
• Profanity cannot be used in chapter names and must be abbreviated, e.g., "F—K“.
• If chapters are numbered, numbering must be uniform. For example, “Chapter Three” cannot be followed by “Chapter 4” or “Chapter IV”
• Chapter numbers and titles should be separated by a colon. Example:
  • Chapter 1: The Beginning
  • Chapter One: The Beginning
  • 1: The Beginning
  • One: The Beginning
